PEP

Politically Exposed Person

An individual in a prominent public function, and their close associates.

PEP status is not an accusation; it is a risk factor that triggers enhanced due diligence, because such individuals are more exposed to bribery and corruption risk. Coverage must extend to family members and known associates.
